In The Beginning
The story begins in 1975 when John & Peter (J&P) Dalla began selling Norton, Triumph and BMW motorcycles in a small shop in the local railway yard.
The next year saw a move to larger premises in Yambil St, once occupied by their grandfather’s Ford Tractor business. John took on the Kawasaki franchise in 1976 (era of the Z900) but he was not on the main drag.
So in 1978 he built a new shop in Banna Avenue and acquired the Suzuki franchise. Then came a lateral move into John Deere lawn mowers, which utilised Kawasaki motors. Increased sales allowed for the building of an adjoining shop in 1988 but all the stairs got to him…4 levels.
Bigger and Better
The year 2001 saw a relocation to the other end of town into a brand new specialised showroom/workshop which had the space to display bikes and accessories so customers could browse in comfort.
KTM was a welcome addition to the stable in 2004, reinforcing J&P’s commitment to the off-road market. For many years J&P has supported MX riders with great success, the most notable being Toby Price, who became the Australian Junior MX Champion for 125 & 250cc in 2003 while with J&P. He fulfilled the potential John saw in him by taking out the Australian Enduro Championship Title in September 2009 and the Finke desert race in 2010.
J&P Motorcycles have been around for nearly 35 years and are known for their vast experience, honest dealing and good backup service. The showroom and workshop are the best in country Australia (so our reps tell us) and we stock a wide range of parts and accessories. We are here for the rider. Come and check us out. |
